Intentional Focus

My Passion

This project is my commitment to monthly walkabouts and fly fishing for wild trout. A practice that helps me reset, decompress, and maintain my mental well-being.

What is manageable?

Time to Make Time

One day per month is a reasonable and manageable commitment. I look forward to the headspace this practice brings me.

Trout Fix Goal:

Committed to monthly walkabouts and fly fishing for wild trout. A practice that helps me reset, decompress, and maintain my mental well-being.

The Walkabout Manifesto:

This is time off, not time away. These walkabouts are a break from the office, not an escape from family. They are a reset, not a retreat. The goal is to return better – clearer, stronger, and more present.

01

Focus, not distraction. Fly fishing demands full attention – reading the water, adapting to conditions, adjusting with each cast. These walkabouts are about presence, not passive escape. The goal is deep focus, not mindless wandering.

02

Strategy over routine. Success on the water isn’t about repetition – it’s about adjustment. Moving, observing, making changes. Fishing (and life) reward those who take what nature gives and work with it, not against it.

03

The journey is the challenge. These are as much hikes as they are fishing sessions – 10 miles of rugged terrain, navigating rivers and forests. Strength is built in the walk, patience in the cast.

04

Most trips, home by night. Some trips, home by dawn. The standard: a full day out and back. Occasionally, an overnight stay – but the goal is regular, sustainable time in the wild, not an escape from the everyday.

05

The reward is the experience. The best days are measured in effort, not numbers. A fish caught is a bonus. The true catch is clarity, movement, and time immersed in wild places.
